At Twin Oak Elementary, the school social worker plays a key role in supporting students’ emotional well-being and overall success. This position focuses on helping children develop healthy coping skills, positive peer relationships, and confidence in themselves as learners. Through individual and small-group support, collaboration with teachers and staff, and partnership with families, the school social worker works to remove barriers to learning and ensure every student has the tools needed to thrive both in the classroom and beyond. Connecting families with helpful community resources is also an important part of this role.

At Twin Oak Elementary, Sara Burke serves as the Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW). With over 20 years of experience working with youth—most of those in school settings—Sara is passionate about helping students and families access the support and resources they need to be successful. Her dedication and care help create a positive and encouraging environment where all students can grow and achieve their best.
